We’re not saying it. Your Instagram page is.
That sounds unfair, doesn’t it?
After all, schools today are better than they’ve ever been. Campuses are more vibrant. Classrooms are more interactive. Students have access to robotics, sports, performing arts, entrepreneurship, coding, and opportunities that simply didn’t exist a decade ago.
Yet, somewhere between the campus and the internet, all of that seems to disappear.
Open the social media pages of ten different schools, and it’s surprisingly difficult to tell them apart. The same festive greetings. The same admission posters. The same awareness-day creatives. Institutions that are completely different in reality begin looking exactly the same online.
The Admission Process Has Changed Today
A decade ago, parents discovered schools through newspapers, hoardings, or recommendations from family and friends. Their first meaningful interaction happened on campus. They walked through the corridors, observed classrooms, met teachers, and experienced the culture before deciding whether the school felt right for their child.
Today, the order has quietly changed.

Before they enquire, they search. Before they visit, they compare. Google, websites, reviews, and social media have become the actual canvas of the admission journey. If this very first impression doesn’t mirror your school’s soul, it is time to fix it.
This isn’t a guess—it’s how the modern enrollment funnel actually moves. According to the Meritto Enrollment Index, 62% of student admissions in India now begin online. Long before parents meet your admission counsellor, they’ve already formed an opinion about your institution.
That’s why schools can no longer think of their online presence as “marketing”.It’s part of the admission experience itself.
The Most Common Digital Mistakes Schools Continue to Make
A great school takes years to build, but an average online presence can make it appear otherwise. At Spartan Media, we’ve had the opportunity to work closely with schools in Indore, and these are some of the execution gaps we repeatedly notice across institutions.
Google Business Profile
Search your own school on Google as if you’re a parent discovering it for the first time. Is the first thing you notice an Annual Day photograph from 2022? Are there unanswered reviews sitting for months? Does the admissions number still work? Is the map pin accurate? These are surprisingly common issues, yet they’re often the very first things parents see while comparing schools. Before anyone walks through your gate, they’ve already formed an impression from what Google showed them.
Website
Now open your website on a mobile phone instead of a laptop. Can you find the admission process in under a minute, or are you opening PDFs, clicking through multiple menus, and waiting for pages that take forever to load? Google reports that over 53% of mobile users leave a website that takes longer than three seconds to load. Parents rarely report these issues—they simply move on to the next school.
Social Media
Scroll through your last twenty posts. If a parent who had never heard of your school saw only that feed, would they understand what makes your institution different? Or would they mostly see festival greetings, congratulatory posts, admission announcements, and awareness-day creatives? Parents aren’t looking for another poster. They’re looking for classrooms where learning feels exciting, teachers who genuinely engage with students, robotics labs in action, sports practice, clubs, performances, and the everyday moments that help them picture their own child on your campus.
Event Coverage
Think about your last Annual Day or sports meet. Months of planning often end up being represented by a few hurried mobile photographs and shaky videos uploaded days later. By the time the content reaches parents, the excitement has already faded. Great events deserve documentation that reflects the effort behind them.
SEO Isn’t Enough Anymore
Parents no longer discover schools only by searching their names. They’re asking questions like, “Which CBSE school near Vijay Nagar has the best sports facilities?” or “Which school in Indore focuses on holistic development?” Increasingly, they’re asking the same questions to AI. Schools that optimize only for traditional SEO are preparing for yesterday’s search behaviour. Today, AEO matters just as much.
One Great Film Can Do What Hundreds of Posts Can’t
Every school has classrooms, laboratories, sports facilities, and achievements.Very few make parents feel something. That’s what a great school film does. In a few minutes, it can communicate what months of social media posts often fail to—why your school feels different, what your culture looks like, and why parents should remember your institution long after they’ve finished comparing others.
Admission Season Needs More Than Ads
During admission season, schools don’t need more impressions—they need more admissions. That requires more than running Meta or Google Ads. Every campaign should lead parents to a dedicated admission page, capture enquiries without friction, and ensure timely follow-ups. The strongest campaigns aren’t the ones that generate the most leads; they’re the ones that convert the highest percentage of interested parents into campus visits and admissions.
A Final Thought
If you read this article and thought, “We’re already doing most of this,” that’s a good sign. It means your digital presence is probably doing justice to the institution you’ve worked hard to build.
But if you recognised your own school in a few of these examples, they’re worth paying attention to.
Because if your school isn’t average, it shouldn’t look average to parents seeing it online.
